Cisco gets big patent win over wifi technology

By

Cisco Systems has beenfinally cleared by the U.S. appeals court on Monday. The case was noted to be about the infringement of the company's wi-fi technology, overturning an almost $64-million assessment against a networking equipment maker in a said patent dispute that has been long running.

According to Reuters, eight years have passed since the litigation that also led to a run to the U.S. Supreme Court for the patent dispute. Finally, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has expressed that Cisco was not in any way liable for the direct inducing or the said infringement to the patent by the company, Commil USA LLC. The latter is a company that has been in-charge for the assistance to help spread the wireless signals over the large areas, as also to where various access are needed.

According to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, there was no enough justification for a $64-million jury case filed against Cisco. Hence, leaving Commil USA LLC nothing to further show for the said case they had pursued since the year 2007.

In fact, the Federal Circuit has been put into an awkward position for the final verdict since they have considered the case way back in 2013, Arstechnica shared. Now, things have turned for Cisco's favor. This is after a long run of Commil USA LLC, also slammed the idea brought that there was a "good faith belief." Hence, they took it to the Supreme Court and have gotten a 6-2 ruling in favor of them, Jewish Business News cited.

Moreover, as the case has been put to a close, Cisco on the other hand, have expressed that the said patent never had anything to do with their products; also, it had nothing to do with the millions of dollars they shelled-out during the traverse of the suit.

As the Federal Circuit have decided on the matter, Commil USA LLC are awaited to say something about the final verdict done. In this regard, the seven-year run of the said suit has been finally put to an end.
