An Indiana man says that his wife shot him while he was on the toilet because she saw him speaking to a neighbor.

The man told police that he had been outside working on his truck earlier in the day and talking to his neighbors. Later, the man's 69-year-old wife confronted him while he was on the toilet and began waving a gun around, saying, "You think I'm playing?" WTHR-13 reported.

The man told police that he did think she was playing, and he smiled at her and started to laugh. According to the man, that's when he was shot in the right leg.

The station quoted court documents and did not name the couple because formal charges have not been filed by prosecutors.

The woman was taken into custody on a preliminary charge of battery with a deadly weapon while the man was taken to the hospital. The station reported that the woman declined to speak to police unless she had a lawyer present.
