Liverpool nears Luis Suarez's $120 M transfer to Barcelona as FIFA relaxes football ban

By

Is his legendary biting skills on the field had earned him to achieve a professional football career dream? It appeared so, as the Guardian reported that Suarez's current club, Liverpool, is close to securing a transfer deal with the iconic Spanish club FC Barcelona worth at least £70 million (about $120 million).

On the other hand, Mashable said that the figure, which would be among the highest in soccer history, is well-deserved for the embattled football star if one takes away the highly-criticized bite he took on Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini's left shoulder during a tournament match. On the other hand, his transfer to Barcelona would also be a blessing in disguise to Suarez, who might be needing a break from all of the negative media coverage he has gotten from the infamous bite. It has been known that the Spanish soccer season does not start until the middle of August through May, and should Suarez decide to stay with Barcelona, his two-month absence from the Spanish league thanks to the wide-ranging FIFA ban will be more of a blimp, the tech blog wrote.

On the other hand, it appears that FIFA itself its thawing up regarding its restrictions on Suarez, as the Guardian said that the world soccer body has allowed the football star to train during his four-month suspension.

At a press conference on Thursday, FIFA disciplinary committee head Claudio Sulser cleared that the ban does not include pre-season training. He said, "No you can't limit those rights to the player, because it would be disproportionate."

Considering the fact that Suarez is reportedly coming off knee surgery, it seemed that things are looking up to the Uruguayan striker.

Sulser also confirmed that the Uruguay Football Association has already filed an appeal to Suarez's ban, but he refused to provide any other details about the appeal.
