In an unexpected weekend turnaround, ex-President Trump communicated he won't revisit the witness rack in his ongoing New York fraud trial. Utilizing his Truth Social platform, he argued that his previous testimony was comprehensive, thus negating the need for further input.

Opting Out of Further Defense Testimony

Trump was set to resume his defense testimony on Monday as the two-month trial enters its final stages. With prior experience in the hot seat under the scrutiny of New York's attorney generals, Trump wanted to dispel the judge's assertion of infringing upon a gag order.

His Sunday post on Truth Social, however, took a dramatic turn. Trump endeavored to portray this trial as a continuation of alleged political attacks on him, explicitly targeting President Biden. He also cited the incontrovertible evidence their final expert witness offered, leading to his resolution to not testify anew on Monday.

Stepping Away from the Judge's Gag Order

Following the social media communique, one of Trump's legal aides, Chris Kise, affirmed the sentiment, but with an added twist - the judge's alleged imposition of an unconstitutional gag order. As per Kise, Trump had said his piece on the financial dealings under question and had nothing new to offer to the seemingly unresponsive judge.

Throughout the proceedings, Trump lambasted the lawsuit as a politically motivated endeavor orchestrated by President Biden, concluding that the judge and the principal clerk were swayed by political bias. The lawsuit instigated by New York AG Letitia James (D) in question demands a hefty sum of $250 million over fraudulent activities spanning ten years. James ended last week's proceedings with a video message condemning Trump's continued attempts at misdirection. Upholding her commitment to the truth, she retaliated to Trump's name-calling and affirmed confidence in the judge's quest for facts.
