Kanye West gets probation, anger management therapy after pleading no contest on battery charges

By

At a court hearing on Monday, Kanye West's attorney entered his client's no contest plea to a judge over battery charges filed by a photographer, said the Washington Post. West was not spotting int the filing. The case reportedly was spurred by an incident at the Los Angeles International Airport last year.

Despite maintaining his innocence in the plea deal, West was still sentenced to a 2-year probation, attendance to 24 anger management therapy sessions, and community service for 250 hours.

Since West opted out of a civil settlement with the celebrity photographer, the rapper will not be able to get sued due to his agreement with the company.

TMZ said, "Kanye was placed on 24 months informal probation - meaning he just has to keep his nose clean, At the end of the 24 months, assuming he hasn't violated probation, the conviction will almost certainly be erased from his record."

Daniel Ramos had argued in court that West was liable to the trauma he suffered when the musician grabbed his camera, said Daily Mail. Ramos is also pursuing for emotional damages, but it was not clear on whether Ramos has cited an amount or a range of the damages stemming from a potential guilty verdict. The paparazzo also claimed that West had actually did the attack as a promotion for his album titled "Yeezus."

Gloria Allred, Ramos' attorney, told reporters, "If Mr West does not comply with terms and conditions of probation - in the court's words - he is not going to make special dispensation to a celebrity. Danny and I believe Kanye West should have been sent to jail. He showed no remorse for attacking Mr Ramos, in fact he's bragged about it. Danny and I feel Mr west should have been required to show up in court today... Kanye seems to think this is a big joke. West is not above the law. We are glad that Mr West did enter a plea, but we do think the sentence handed down today was not sufficient.'
