Huawei Announces Partnership With Pantone Color Institute, Will Add More Color Options To Future Smartphones

There was a time during Nokia's heyday when cellphones come in a variety of colors for consumers to choose from. China's Huawei is looking to bring back that point in time with its announcement of a new partnership that will likely lead to more colors in their smartphones.

According to Andriod Headlines, Huawei just announced its new partnership with Pantone Color Institute. The new partnership seeks to bring Pantone Color Institute's expertise on color to Huawei's smartphones. Huawei is already releasing most of their products with a range of different colors and this new partnership will likely continue and improve their design trends.

Huawei says that the partnership will enable the company to launch devices that combine groundbreaking innovation and beauty. PR Newswire also reported that with Huawei's knowledge in metal craftsmanship and the color thought leadership of the Pantone Color Institute, consumers can expect devices that combine both company's design philosophies.

As of now, the specific smartphone models and colors that will have Pantone Color's Institute's input on Huawei's devices is still unclear. But the Color company has made other collaborations with several companies and designers to leverage the power, psychology and color in their design strategy.

Color is known to have psychological effects that can elicit certain emotions depending on the choice and use of color. The Pantone Color Institute believes in color's power as it influences human emotions. The company forecasts future color direction through seasonal trends forecasts, color creation and social commentary through which Huawei will look to take advantage of.

Current smartphone trends have a dull color palette consisting of various shades of greys, blacks and whites. Huawei is looking to buck that trend with their new partnership the the Pantone Color Institute.

Apple, once known to create colorful devices like the iMac G3 has begun to offer more color options in their devices. Huawei is looking to be ahead of the pack if their new partnership brings in a new era.
