Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to be Keynote Speaker for Utah State Bar Lawyers in Coming Summer

By

The "notorious" Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be the keynote speaker for the Utah Baw Lawyers this coming July 27 and 28, 2017. The 83-year old veteran lawyer was invited by Federal District Court Judge Robert J. Shelby and attorney Amy Sorenson.

Utah State Bar President Robert O. Rice believed that the presence of Ginsburg will be a great privilege for Utah lawyers since the judge has been a highly esteemed and respected jurist. Since August of 1993, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg became part of the US Supreme Court under President Bill Clinton's appointment. She is known for her occasional scathing dissents over her years in service, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

The conference will not be open to the public. Only members of the Utah State Bar will be attending on the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear from a well-respected jury. The Utah State Bar provides licenses and continually educates and disciplines attorneys in the state. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is among of the few Supreme Court Justices who became speaker for the Utah State Bar. In 2015, after he wrote a ruling in relation to same-sex marriage, Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy spoke to the Utah State Bar as well, Fox 13 reported.

For Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a meaningful life would mean to be doing something outside oneself. She believes that people should reach out to help other people who are less fortunate. Last year, the justice went into hot waters when she said something negative about Donald Trump's electoral campaign, but made an apology afterwards.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg also kept silent about the nomination of Colorado federal appeals court Judge Neil Gorsuch. She also didn't give any opinion about the immigration ban on Muslim-majority countries of the Trump administration. She is currently fighting her way out of colorectal cancer, The Mercury News reports.
