Kickboxing News: Biggest Super-fight Rematch Might Have To Wait Until Badr Hari Serves Jail Time

By

Unfortunate Kickboxing news comes to fans as legendary kickboxer Badr Hari might have to put his rematch with champion Rico Verhoeven on hold. The kickboxing superstar's attention was called by the Netherlands Supreme Court.

This was in regards to Hari's previous legal battle in 2014, where he was found guilty of assaulting an entrepreneur during a dance event. According to BloodyElbow, Hari assaulted millionaire Koen Everink by shattering his bones after stomping on his ankle.

The kickboxing superstar tried to tried to make an appeal in order to reduce his sentence time. However, the recent Kickboxing news reveals that the Netherlands Supreme Court denied his appeal and Hari must now serve six months of jail time.

The 32-year-old Moroccan basically grew up in the Netherlands and established his name as one of the most feared kickboxers in the world. Given his legal circumstances and notoriety in Netherlands, Hari mostly spends his time nowadays in Morocco.

Hari had a notorious reputation of being the "bad boy" of kickboxing both inside and outside the ring. According to Mirror, the kickboxing legend committed a string of violations in his hometown of Netherlands including two assaults, two attempted aggravated assaults and one grievous assault.

Despite Hari's infamous reputation, soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo considers him his friend. Ronaldo reportedly flies to Morocco just to spend time with Hari and both usually posts selfies together on Instagram.

Unfortunately, the kickboxing star won't be hanging out with anyone if he's to serve his sentence. This kickboxing news would also mean Hari will be missing out on his highly anticipated rematch against kickboxing kingpin Rico Verhoeven.

Hari lost to Verhoeven via technical knockout in what was dubbed as the biggest super fight in Kickboxing history. The Moroccan star is supposed to redeem himself in a rematch but those aspirations will have to wait until his sentence is served. Unfortunately for kickboxing fans, they will have to wait as well before another super fight starring Hari will ever materialize.
