Miss France Has Been Crowned As The 65th Miss Universe

Miss France, Iris Mittenaere is crowned the Miss Universe for the 65th Miss Universe Pageant. She beat the other finalists in this prestigious event.

According to Reuters, Mittenaere is a dental student from Paris and is the second Frenchwoman to get the crown. She beat the other hopeful candidates at the pageant that was held in the Philippines.

Miss Haiti, Racquel Pelissier took the first-runner up title while the second runner-up is Miss Colombia, Andrea Tovar. It has been a tough competition for the ladies. The pageant trimmed down the contestants from 85 to 13. After walking on stage for their swim wear, the contestants were then narrowed down to six finalists.

CNN reported that the pageant had a different way of getting finalists this year. It counted online votes for the 13th finalists that can move on to the next level of the pageant. The 65th Miss Universe Pageant has been the first for Sierra Leon.

Canada's candidate, Siera Bearchell has been a victim of body shaming but still managed to be confident in the pageant. She had been a part of the 13 finalists who first moved up to the chance of getting the crown.

Meanwhile, after the pageant, Mittenaere shares that Europe needs a Miss Universe. She also notes that the French people will love her win and that they may watch the pageant moving forward, according to Fox News.

Mittenaere will move on to working for Miss Universe and she plans to focus on helping children during her reign. Mettanare is a dental surgery student and is from Lillie city in northern France. In the meantime, Pia Wurtzbach from the Philippines who is the reigning Miss Universe has turned over the crown to the new title holder.

Wurtzbach had her own closing remarks in the ceremony thanking Steve Harvey for making her a popular Miss Universe. Harvey closed the ceremony thanking everybody for the support on the pageant.
