Julia Louis-Dreyfus Speech Targets Trump's Executive Order; Various Celebrities React

By

Julia Louis-Dreyfus' SAG speech sends the same message that a handful of celebrities are trying to convey in regards to Trump's immigration ban. The "Seinfeld" actress used the Screen Actors Guild Awards as her medium to criticize the United States president.

Dreyfus started out her acceptance speech on a light-hearted albeit comedic note, Elle reported. The 56-year-old actress mocked Trump by emulating him in a funny way. "I am the winner, the winner is me. Landslide," Dreyfus added. After the crowd in attendance settled from all the laughter that ensued, Dreyfus' tone changed from silly to serious.

It's no surprise that America is occupied by a lot of immigrants. This includes the "Veep" star's father as she stressed that same point.

"My father fled religious persecution in Nazis occupied France", explains Dreyfus. Then the actress proclaimed that, while she loves her country, she's "horrified by its blemishes."

Dreyfus was clearly referring to Trump's executive order as she called the immigration ban "unAmerican." The "Seinfeld" star emphasized that she'll fight for the "storytellers" who came from nations with "varying beliefs."

With that said, Dreyfus is grateful for these immigrants who "shared their creativity with America." The "Veep" actress joins a handful of celebrities who also feel the same way about Trump's recent immigration ban.

Musician John Legend gave his thoughts on the recent immigration ban stating that Los Angeles is home to many immigrants. Legend exclaimed that the diversity of races in America is what makes up the country's face and voice, reports Entertainment Weekly.

The singer proclaimed that he's rejecting Trump's vision. "America has to be better than that," added Legend.

Expanding on that same point is Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The Facebook head pointed out that America is "a nation of immigrants." While Rush Communications CEO Russell Simmons tweeted that he finds the Muslim ban "Shameful."

One thing is certain, the United States is going through a drastic change. One that is causing quite a stir to not only the general public but to celebrities as well.
