'Galaxy S8' Latest News & Updates: S7 Successor Showcases Bezel-Free, Curved Display Features; Ready For March 2017 Release

By

Great news for Android and Samsung fanatics as the company is set to announce its latest mobile device, the Samsung Galaxy S8. This flagship phone is said to have a significant upgrade from the previous S7 model in terms of features and aesthetics. The most distinguishable chance is the elimination of the home button at the lower part of the phone's screen, which could mean that the button would be incorporated with the phone's display.

There are two models of the S8 set to be announced as per The Guardian, with minor differences for both. There is a 5.8 inch and a 6.2 inch screen model that covers more than 80 percent of the front panel. Samsung appropriately named this the "infinity" display as the phone is practically bezel-free. The screen for both models also curves on both sides, much like the Galaxy Edge mobile phones.

Both models will be powered by an Android Nougat OS with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or a Samsung Exynos processor. According to the report of Venture Beat, this will make the S8 11 percent faster than and have 23 percent faster graphics loading compared to it is predecessor, while also being more energy efficient. This makes the S8s 3000mAh and 3500mAh last longer even if it is the same as the battery size in the S7s.

The Galaxy S8 will also feature some of Samsung's additional features, such as being able to connect the device to a monitor for a desktop view of Android. This can be controlled by a keyboard and mouse, but it requires an optional HDMI-equipped dock. They also feature the Google Assistant, Bixby, who has been upgraded and is said to be capable of performing more complex commands. One other feature is the pressure-sensitive input which can tell apart the different types of screen presses, allowing for more easy commands.

Samsung is set to release the Galaxy S8 in March, one month after its usual release dates. This is due to the incident with the Galaxy Note 7s, so Samsung is performing additional tests to ensure something like that does not happen again. For those in Europe, the release date will be even longer as it is set to be on April 21. There is no official price as of yet,  so customers would just have to wait a little bit longer.
