NBA Trade: Dwight Howard Could Be Moving From Atlanta Hawks To Pelicans

By

After trading away elite sharp shooter, Kyle Korver, to the Cavaliers, could Dwight Howard be the next Hawk to see a new home as the management looks to improve their roster? Would the 13-year veteran be going to his fifth NBA team?

This would seem likely so when the Pelicans had trade discussions with the Hawks about Howard after their recent matchup, as per ESPN's Zach LoweThe Pelicans are looking for players to surround their superstar, Anthony Davis and Howard provides them with a legitimate center that allows Davis to move to his natural forward position. However, the Pelicans did not seem to be all on the same page about Howard. With the Hawks pulling everyone off the market, it would make this trade seem highly unlikely.

The Atlanta Hawks is currently in the fourth place in the Eastern Conference, behind the Cavaliers, Raptors, and Celtics. They won have eight of their last 10 games and Dwight Howard is the main reason for that as he averages 13.7 points, 12 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game as per Basketball Reference. Being one of only two all-stars on the team, and the home-town boy of Atlanta, it would seem that Howard may have found a permanent home after three previous NBA teams.

There are still five weeks before the trade deadline, and as history has shown in the NBA, anything can happen. He might not be going anywhere as of the time being. But if the Hawks decide to trade away Howard, you can expect them to get more than just draft picks and role players. As per Bleacher Report, the Hawks could be looking to explore bold steps to acquire future assets in the hopes of going for a deep playoff run in this year, and the years to come.
