Chelsea Handler has shown her keenness in criticizing President-elect Donald Trump since the 2016 presidential election campaign. Now the talk show host has turned her eyes on the Kardashians who she blames for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s loss.
In particular, Handler is blaming Kim Kardashian’s clan, their reality show on E!, and society’s fixation on reality shows. Due to such obsession, the comedian believes the voters have lost focus on what really matters in society at the moment.
Speaking to Variety, Handler opened up about deciding to remain in the country after Trump’s presidential win. She previously said she would be interested to move to Spain if the business mogul won the election. When asked what she would have done to prevent Trump’s popularity and triumph in the presidential campaign, Handler believes the country should have stopped covering him and looking at him as an entertainer.
“We’ve turned into a reality show,” the former ‘Chelsea Lately’ host said. “I blame the Kardashians, personally; the beginning of the end was the Kardashians. The way these people have blown up and don’t go away — it’s surreal. Everyone is for sale.”
While the Kardashian family has often been the subject of her jokes on her newest Netflix talk show ‘Chelsea,’ the TV personality remains friends with Khloe Kardashian. In a previous interview with Jimmy Fallon last year, Handler joked that the cancellation of her E! show ‘Chelsea Lately’ was caused by her backside not being “big enough” as compared to other famous celebrities on the network.
In her interview with Variety, Handler also touched on the subject of Trump’s children, particularly Ivanka Trump, who has promised she will support policies on women’s issues. The TV host jabbed at Ivanka for not being able to challenge her father in terms of their personal beliefs.
"The idea that Ivanka is going to help women, or do anything for women, is absurd, because she’s a puppet. They’re all his puppets,” Handler added.
