Apple News & Updates: New MacOS Beta Adds Display Brightness Feature To Save Up Battery Life

By

Apple has good news for MacBook users. The giant company has introduced the new macOS 10.12.3 beta to further optimize the macOS Sierra that includes a new Display Brightness feature that will help users save their device's battery life.

The new Display Brightness feature appears under the MacBook's Battery status indicator and will show users what applications and features on the device are consuming much of its battery, according to 9to5mac. The feature will appear as a warning when a MacBook's screen brightness is set at 80%. Users will just have to click the warning to reduce the brightness of the screen.

The feature still works even when the "Automatically Adjust Brightness" feature is enabled on the settings, and users may still increase the screen brightness manually even if they enabled the feature to reduce the brightness. The said feature is said to help extend the device's battery life by decreasing the screen brightness and being able to increase it will still allow users adjust it to how bright they want their screen to be.

Mac Rumors reports that since its first launch in October last year, the latest MacBook Pro models has been receiving bad reviews about its battery life. Reviews state that users are only getting around three to six hours of battery life on a single charge, even if the device is only being used for basic web browsing and other activities that do not consume much energy.

Apple has attempted to address the issue with the macOS 10.12.2 update by removing the "time remaining" battery life indicator stating that the feature could not keep up with users' activities accurately. The battery life issue, according to the report, has affected Consumer Reports and the giant company has found out that a Safari bug is what's causing the concern.

Meanwhile, the new macOS 10.12.3 is currently available only to beta testers and will soon be officially released.
