India man allegedly chops hands of 7-month-old daughter's teenager rapist

A man in the Jhumba village of India allegedly took the law in his own hands and cut off the hands of a teenager who was accused of molesting the man's baby daughter.

The man in question was identified as Parminder Singh, The Washington Post reported. The teenager whose hands were cut off was accused of raping Singh's then 7-month-old daughter. The incident was discovered by Singh's wife, who allegedly saw the teenager molesting the infant. Pending a trial, the teenager was sent to a juvenile remedial home.

A hearing on the case was supposed to take place on Tuesday at the Rama Mandi district court in Punjab, with the now 17-year-old accused in attendance. The hearing, however, was postponed. Singh then approached the teenager and offer an out-of-court settlement, after which he promised to give the boy a ride to town in his motorbike.

Instead of a settlement, Singh avenged the rape of his daughter by mutilating the hands of the boy.

"[Singh] took him near a dried up canal, beat him up badly and then tied him to a tree and finally hacked his hands off," Authorities told AFP, via Breitbart. "There is nothing below the wrists now."

Villagers nearby heard the boy's desperate screams before he could bled to death. The boy was found lying near the canal alone and his hand arms bleeding. By the time the villagers discovered the boy, the suspect was no longer in sight.

The villagers rushed the boy to the Bathinda civil hospital and notified the police about the incident. The teenager was reportedly in critical condition, The Indian Express noted.

Parminder Singh is currently at large and is now facing a charge for attempted murder. Bathinda senior police officer Swapan Sharma said the police are currently searching for the offender.

Similar incidents of personal revenge reportedly run rampant in India, which is notoriously known for its slow and sometimes corrupt legal system. Rapists are usually the subject of such vigilante justice.

A similar occurrence took place in India in November 2014, where a father tortured and killed his daughter's rapist before surrendering to the police.
