NYPD SUV Assault: Detective Wojceich Braszczok Pleads Not Guilty In Motorcycle Attack On Driver (Video)

By

Wojceich Braszczok, a New York police detective who was among four bikers who pleaded not guilty to charges in connection with the beating of an SUV driver in September, has been "charged with gang assault, criminal mischief, riot and more in the 14-count indictment," CNN reported.

The September 29 altercation involved the SUV driver Alexander Lien.

Others who pleaded guilty in the case include Clinto Caldwell, charged with felony first-degree gang assault.

31-year-old James Kuehne, a Brooklyn resident, also faces charges of gang assault, criminal mischief and criminal possession of a weapon, CNN also reported.

Authorities said that Lien was "chased by bikers after he initially bumped one during a biker rally. When his Range Rover was surrounded by several bikers, he called 911 and told police he feared for his life and running over bikers and critically injuring one one. Lien's wife and 2-year-old daughter were in the vehicle with him," CNN also reported.

A chase ensued on the Westside Highway ended at a traffic stop in Manhattan. Lien's wife and 2-year-old were in the car, as the assailants reported smashed the SUV's windows, and Lien was dragged out of the car and beaten.

Prosecutors said that Braszczok is seen on video allegedly using his fist to bash in the rear window of Lien's SUV and kick it.

The wife of Edwin Mieses, the motorcyclist who was critically injured in the melee had hired the high-profile attorney Gloria Allred in October to represent her and talk about her husband's condition, ABC News reported.

Allred described Mieses as an "innocent victim" trying to "defuse the situation."
