T-mobile's LG G Stylo Now Receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Update; Changelog Detailed

By

LG G Stylo owners under T-Mobile may now rejoice as their handsets can now be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The said software update is expected to bring changes and enhancements to the handset that are deemed helpful to many users.

According to Ubergizmo, T-Mobile has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its LG G Stylo handsets. The firmware update is said to weigh 767MB in size, so users are advised to make sure they're connected to WiFi to avoid having their data cap consumed. They also have to ensure that their phone is charged or has sufficient battery to complete the update.

T-Mobile stated that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware will be rolled out between the 7th of March and the 21st of March. But just in case users don't see the update yet, they don't have to worry because it should eventually make its way to their LG G Stylo.

Additionally, Android Headlines stated that users who won't receive the OTA notification can trigger the update manually by heading straight to the "Settings" menu, and digging further into "About phone" > "Update center" > "System Update". The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the LG G Stylo will bring the software version to "H63120b".

When it comes with the new features and enhancements, Android Geeks noted that the Marshmallow introduces the new app permissions system which enables apps to ask for permissions only when it has to access certain features of the smartphone. The Marshmallow software also adds the On Tap functionality to Google Now so it can now pull out important information about what's currently on the screen. Another is the Doze Mode which brings better battery life when the phone is idle.

The Android 6.0 update also features Deep Linking, Chrome custom tabs, Direct Share, the ability to use SD cards as default storage, automatic app data backup, and more. Of course, there will also be LG-specific modifications such as interface tweaks and updated native apps.

Aside from the LG G Stylo's firmware update, its successor, LG Stylus 2, has  started to make its way on market shelves. Stylus 2 is now available in South Korea for $328.
