Pokemon GO Beta Test Happening Late March in Japan Confirmed; Niantic Announces Android, iOS Specs Requirements

Despite the cancellation of preview for Pokemon GO at Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2016, Niantic has gladly announced the field testing happening in Japan later this March. This exciting news prompts fans and pundits alike that a new sneak peek of the next hit mobile game is just right around the corner as it gears up towards its highly anticipated release on Android and iOS devices later in the year. 

As announced via Niantic official website, the Pokemon Go test will be made available on version 4.3 or higher for Android and iOS for iPhone 5 or higher. Gamers who wish to join the event must also be chosen through lots since the server won't be able to let each signed participant to to try out the game. What's more is that for iOS users, limited slots will be offered due to some technical reasons. 

The field testing, however, will take place first in Japan and may sign up while players who are in other regions need to be more patient and wait for their turn in the near future.  

Last week, the game developer confirmed that the previously planned Pokemon Go presentation at GDC is being cancelled. As Niantic had put it, the development team is directing its full attention on the game's release.

"We have decided to forego our GDC talk on Pokemon Go in order to focus on getting the product ready for beta test and launch," CEO John Hanke stated as reported by Game Informer. "As much as we hate to disappoint those in the industry attending GDC, we feel our time and energy right now are best spent on making sure every aspect of the product is where we want it to be."

The cancelled GDC presentation which was reportedly titled "Catch 'Em All: 'Pokemon GO' and Real World Gaming" promised to provide "a first-hand, in-depth look" at the game's real world interaction, according to iDigitalTimes. 

Pokemon Go is an upcoming mobile game for iOS and Android where fans can hunt for, catch and train Pokemon by walking around their real-world surroundings. It is expected to release later in 2016.
