Hudson River Body: Searchers Pull Bride-to- Be Out of Water Following Boat Crash; Driver Charged with Vehicular Manslaughter (Video)

The funeral of bride-to-be, Lindsey Stewart, who died in a New York boating accident last week is scheduled for Thursday in the church where she would have been married, the Associated Press reported on Monday.

Stewart was killed Friday night when the speedboat she was in collided with a moored construction barge in the Hudson River. Mark Lennon, who was to be her best man was also killed.

Lennon's brother Raymond told local news that Mark had been friends with both Stewart and her would-be groom.

Six people were in the speedboat, which began in Piermont on the way to Tarrytown for a pre-wedding party.

Jojo John, the boat's operator has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and vehicular assault, news reports said, as police determined that he was drunk at the time of the accident. He also had a prior drug arrest.

"I don't think you can put words to what we have to tell these families," Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco said.

The sheriff added that the barge's lighting would be part of the investigation of the crash, saying authorities have said that while the barge was equipped with light, it clearly was difficult to see on the water at such a late hour.

"We will determine if those barges were lit properly and if it was a factor," Falco added.
