Verizon Releases Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Update for LG G3, G4 & HTC One M9

Verizon Wireless is busy preparing for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update release for LG G3, G4 and HTC One M9. Users of these handsets are expected to receive the firmware through over-the-air.

Android Police stated that both LG G3 and LG G4 are getting updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, with the former upgraded to version VS98546A and the latter to version VS98624C.

Verizon Wireless provided the details on the new features with short descriptions and some screenshots so users can check out and see how LG's flavor of Marshmallow will look like. Some of the new features are Now on Tap, Doze mode, runtime permissions, silent mode, Direct Share, and more. The LG G4 is also getting Wi-Fi calling upon updating its firmware to Android 6.0.

As for the HTC One M9, it was noted that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is already rolling out and Verizon is doing well on that timeline. The carrier has followed Sprint and is simultaneous with T-Mobile's release. The update to software version 3.37.605.7 will bring all of Marshmallow's features that are specified above as well as Android Pay to the M9.

When it comes with receiving the update, Phone Arena reported that an OTA notification should arrive on the device at some point over the next day or so. After users have received the confirmation, they can proceed with the installation.

As always, the smartphones are advised to be at least half-charged, and connected to Wi-Fi beforehand. It is also suggested to back up all important files to secure documents, in case anything goes wrong during the update.

International Business Times cited other devices under Verizon Wireless which are eligible for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. It was noted that the LG V10 and LG G Flex 2 will obtain the Marshmallow firmware some point this year. But as of the moment, there's no information available to confirm the eligibility of the LG G2. Nevertheless, not long ago, this handset made a visit to the Geekbench site with Marshmallow on board.

The arrival of Android 6.0 Marshmallow software to Verizon Wireless' LG G3, G4 and HTC One M9 devices is expected to be gradual since it's rolled out through OTA. For owners of who haven't received any notification yet, they can always manually check for the update through visiting Settings --> About Phone --> Update Center --> System Updates --> Check for Update. As for the HTC One M9, it's Settings --> System Updates --> HTC software update --> Check Now.
