Android Marshmallow custom ROM brings version 6.0.1, extended battery life to OnePlus One; Get Marshmallow for Samsung Galaxy S5 now

An Android Marshmallow custom ROM offers software version 6.0.1 and extended battery life to the OnePlus One. Samsung Galaxy S5 users can also install Marshmallow on their devices via custom ROM update.

Owners of the OnePlus One who cannot wait for the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update may install the TugaPower custom ROM to upgrade to the latest software build. International Business Times reported that the custom ROM update for the OnePlus One brings Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and battery enhancements to the device.

The TugaPower Marshmallow custom ROM for the OnePlus One (also called Bacon) was made by developer Daniel Monteiroh. It adds CyanogenMod features that enhance user experience and performance of the OnePlus One along with Marshmallow's distinct functionalities. The TugaPower ROM can be installed using the TWRP recovery system strictly on OnePlus One models only.

Before installation, users should first download the necessary files (TugaPower Android Marshmallow custom ROM files, Google Apps files, and USB driver for OnePlus One). They should make sure that their phones are rooted and have at least 80% battery prior installation. Since this is an unofficial method, users should note that installing the custom ROM will invalidate their devices for future official software updates and warranty provided by the phone manufacturer.

There is also an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow custom ROM for the Galaxy S5 LTE G900F. WCCF Tech said that the AICP custom ROM for the Galaxy S5 brings system tweaks and improvements to the device. It also features a Vanilla AOSP interface and a stable build.

According to Lawyer Herald, the Google Nexus 4 can also get upgraded to Marshmallow via the custom ROM Mako. The unofficial firmware was created by Aldrin Holmes, an XDA software developer. It can be installed via the TWRP method.

Another Nexus device that can get Marshmallow through custom ROM installation is the Google Nexus 7 (2012). The BeanStalk Marshmallow custom ROM for the Nexus 7 (2012) brings useful features such as a Do Not Disturb mode.

It seems that there is no announcement yet of when Android Marshmallow will officially reach OnePlus One devices. The latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is rolling out by phases so it may take a while to reach all eligible devices.
