'Equals' recently released its official trailer following its film festival premieres. It featured Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult in a steamy yet forbidden love affair set in a utopian society that eradicated all traces of human emotion. The co-actors denied being more than friends despite the rumors.
According to Digital Spy, the trailer for director Drake Doremus' latest science-fiction romance film has recently been released and featured Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult as forbidden lovers in a futuristic seemingly utopian society. It showed Stewart and Hoult as Nia and Silas, respectively, as they fight the urge to break free of the rules imposed within the emotionless yet orderly society.
The upcoming film is set in a society where emotions are widely discouraged and even eradicated in order to keep the peace, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, Nia and Silas fall in love with each other after becoming infected with a new disease despite the consequences they will eventually have to face.
Silas becomes an outcast while his co-worker Nia continues to hide her condition although she too has become infected. The two must escape together in order to survive.
The film is set to premiere in theaters this summer. It had its world premiere at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival with its North American premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. Principal photography began in Japan and wrapped up in Singapore on September 2014.
Although Stewart and Hoult had undeniable chemistry in the film, the co-actors denied any involvement off-screen. According to The Daily Mail, Hoult denied rumors of being romantically involved with Stewart.
He said, 'That's all anyone ever writes about. Everyone knows that stuff is made up... You read: "A friend said..." and I'd love to know who this "friend" was. I'm a sucker for it myself though. I'll be flicking through whatever it might be and go "Gasp - no way?" and then I'll think, "Oh no, wait a minute, that's probably nonsense."
The 26-year old English actor dated 'X-Men: First Class' co-star Jennifer Lawrence and the two eventually split up in August 2014. Meanwhile, Stewart had a long-term relationship with 'Twilight' co-star Robert Pattinson before the two called it quits in 2014 following a high-profile scandal involving a third party.
'Equals' is an upcoming science-fiction and romantic drama directed by Drake Doremus and written by Nathan Parker. It stars Stewart and Hoult as two forbidden lovers in a utopian society of emotionless human beings.
