“The Mummy” Remake Update: Sofia Boutella will be female mummy; Release date later than expected

The Mummy is returning on the big screen 9 years after the previous ones starring Brendan Fraser, but now, Tom Cruise is committed in being the lead role. Moreover, he'll be joined by Sofia Boutella as a female mummy with the sequel debuting in a delayed release.

The 1999 action horror adventure film will be back to thrill the audience more with Tom Cruise as the lead, and now news surround that a female mummy will be featured. According to Variety, the reboot will include a female version for the reincarnated monsters. Sofia Boutella from the Kingsman: Secret Service is on board to take the role of scaring the audience. She will be helmed by Alex Kurtzman to bring life to the latest character addition in this reboot.

Moreover, Boutella has been a success since starring in the Kingsman: Secret Service last 2014. In the reports of Hindustan Times, the 33-year old Algerian-French actress is not only set to star in the upcoming The Mummy reboot. Boutella will also be seen in Star Trek Beyond and The Coldest City with Charlize Theron and James McAvoy. That will be a great run for Boutella's career and shouldn't disappoint the audience in the The Mummy reboot.

Lastly, Youth Health Mag reported that the reboot's announced release date has been changed and now audience will have to wait more months. The article stated that the originally slated March 24, 2017 release by Universal was changed to a little late 3 months. The film reboot is now expected in June 9, 2017 and will be the first of the many films in the new concept regarding a monster universe film like the ones from Avengers franchise.

The Mummy is now getting a reboot with Tom Cruise in the lead role after series of talks.
