Samsung Approves Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release; Internal Roadmap Leaked

By

Samsung Electronics is one of the smartphone makers who have promised to deliver the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Recently, the South Korean tech company has finally approved the firmware release and as a matter of fact, its internal roadmap has been leaked online.

According to WCCFTech, Samsung is not yet confirming anything about the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release to its handsets. However, the company has been reported to be sealing-in its approval on rolling out the Marshmallow update. In fact, there are a few talks now stating that an allegedly leaked internal document revealed the schedule as to when Samsung is planning to finally roll out the long-awaited Marshmallow firmware  to some of its devices. The new internal document reportedly carries up-to-date information about the predicted timeline of Samsung Android 6.0 Marshmallow release to few major devices of the past two years.

Gospel Herald stated that based on the leaked roadmap, the Galaxy S6 Edge + and Galaxy Note 5 will be the first handsets to obtain the Android Marshmallow upgrade. The schedule would  fall sometime in February. It somehow makes sense as the S6 Edge + and Note 5 are the most recently launched smartphones from Samsung.

As soon as the S6 Edge + and Note 5 receives the upgrade, it would be followed by Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge which is slated sometime between February and March. With this, it is most probable that the flagship devices from two years ago like the Galaxy S5, Note 4, and Note Edge, will be obtaining the Android 6.0 upgrade next around March to April.

Aside from the aforementioned handsets,  other Samsung smartphones slated to get the update later include the Samsung Galaxy A8, A7, A5, A3, E7, and E5, as well as Q2 updates for Samsung tablets like the Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Tab A, Galaxy Tab S2 9.7, and Tab S2 8.0.

According to Android Origin, the aforementioned devices would receive needed performance improvements and features like the new battery saving feature called Doze and the Factory Reset Protection once the firmware update arrives.

Unfortunately, Samsung flagship older than the S4 won't be get the update, and that goes for the Note 3 as well.

Furthermore, the Android Marshmallow roll out to Samsung devices might also depend on the carrier. Often times, in the United States, certain carriers like US Cellular, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T achieve the latest upgrade of Android before others. As usual, patrons are still advised to wait for further announcements regarding the exact schedule.
