12 people were injured in a drive-by shooting in northwest D.C. early Monday, according to a report from NBCwashington.com. Authorities say people in two cars opened fire on a crowd in the 1200 block of N. Capitol Street at about 2:10 a.m.

D.C. police are considering the possibility that the shooting may have been a result of an altercation in a nearby club. The victims were reportedly six women and six men. None of the injuries are life-threatening, and all are expected to survive, according to D.C. police.

"We have mostly gunshot wounds to the legs, extremities, hands, some graze wounds..." said Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier. "The victims have been transported to a hospital for some sort of treatment."

The most serious injury was in a man who was shot in the back and "some victims may have been injured by glass from a bus shelter that was shattered by gun shots," nbcwashington.com reported.

Authorities are still piecing together all of the evidence throughout the neighborhood.A section of N. Capitol Street was cordoned off from M Street to New York Avenue.

The police are still looking for two vehicles involved in the drive-by; one appears to be a silver sedan. The other was initially reported as a BMW, but new video suggests it may be a different kind of car altogether.

Police have released video footage of the shooting:
