Police Shoot Woman: YouTube Video Surfaces Of Scuffle Outside Nightclub (Video)

Police in Elizabeth, New Jersey are investigating a YouTube video which appear to show a police officer punching a woman in the face. After a fight outside Envy Night Club, yelling and cursing leads to a physical scuffle. What then ensues is a police officer hitting one woman directly in the head, NBC New York reported. "World Star" is a website that compiles videos of fights caught on tape, and directly the course of the video, a bystander can be heard chanting the phrase. A public information officer with the Elizabeth Police internal affairs department could not be reached.

The mayhem that ensued is still be investigated, as is what really happened that led to the officer hitting the woman. Some have argued that the woman may have interfered with a police officer during a violent situation. The officer did what he needed to do to preserve his safety and get control of the situation.

Police in Elizabeth, New Jersey, told WNBC-TV they are investigating the video footage, which was posted on YouTube on March 3. Other iterations of the video were posted later after the original was taken down. Toward the end, an officer appears in the background, throws a person in front of a woman down, grabs the woman, and hits her in the heads her in the head.An employee at Envy told the Huffington Post that the club is aware of the situation, but did not elaborate further.
