‘Half-Life 3’ Update: Game Still a Mystery; Game Dev Gives Go Signal to Fan-made Sequel

By

Despite the sightings of Half-Life 3 in a Danish retail website, game developer is still mum on the information with regards to the game. Meanwhile, Valve permits a fan-made sequel to be out this February.

International Business Times shared that Half-Life 3 has been in the list of Webhallen, a Danish retail website, as one of the games ready for pre-orders as it will be release this 2016. The web listing even mentions Half-Life 3's price, image, product description and release date, adding that information are preliminary and may change.

Fans wondered why Webhallen included Half-life 3 in its listing for pre-orders, knowing that only announced video games gets pre-order dates, added IBT.  Despite the recent development, Half-Life creators are still silent over the status of the third series of the franchise.

Master Herald even called Half-Life 3 as one of the biggest mystery in the gaming industry as Valve declined to reveal any information about the game but occasionally remind fans not to get their hopes high.

Instead of sharing Half-Life 3, Valve permits another fan project to be released on Steam next month. Prospekt is similar in style to Half-Life 2 following the story of Adrian Shepard. Prospekt is a mod based on Valve's Source Engine, the source said.

Master Herald cited Prospekt follows the story of Shepard assisting Gordon Freeman in Nova Prospekt, the notorious Combine prison. Shepard will do everything so that the scientist gets through his mission successfully.

Since the announcement of the Half-Life 3, MNR Daily said many are looking forward to any news yet all that comes out are unverified stories. Valve is even silent on whether the Half-Life 3 exists or not.

Confusion files up when Marc Laidlow, who is in-charge for the script of the first two Half-Life, resigned from Valve. Laidlow turned down to answer question about the possibility of third installment saying it is "inappropriate for him to answer questions on the fate of the franchise."

While fans can only speculate for the fate of their waiting for Half-Life 3, Prospekt will be released on February 11, at $8.99 pre-order and its regular price is $9.99.
