Final Fantasy VII Remake: Voiced Scenes Confirmed; Minigames to be Changed or Cut

It seems that while the game is set to be fully voiced in the future, the Final Fantasy VII Remake will have some content cut or modified along the way. This is to accommodate a shift in the "societal standards" of recent years and to survey its necessity to the game.

On December 21, 2015, Dengeki Playstation (as translated by Gematsu) published a joint interview with Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase and designer Tetsuya Nomura. They confirmed that they plan on having the game be fully voiced, though they still haven't decided who would voice characters that haven't appeared on Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The dating scenes of the original game will also be included, and confirmed to be fully voiced as well as a result. They also reveal that they are still deciding which minigames would return in the Remake, but assures that fan-favorites would be implemented. Kitase says that the development team are also thinking about what to do with the minigames.

Kitase and Nomura also reveal that they plan on modifying the approach to certain sections of the game, saying that the change in societal standards of the recent years must be taken into account for certain segments. Nomura then jokingly brings up the infamous Honey Bee Inn segment of the game, which involved a brothel full of ladies dressed as honeybees and some rather suggestive scenes. Sam Prell, in his article for Games Radar, jokingly speculates on what could be done on that front, due to its explicit humor, as well as the entire segment where the main character, Cloud Strife, crossdresses briefly. He also jokes that "(He) is not a game developer" in his article, in reference to what could be done to modify those segments.

Aside from this, the game is confirmed to still be under production throughout 2016. Siliconera reports that in the special New Year's publication of Famitsu magazine, where multiple game developers were interviewed on their ambitions for 2016, Kitase notes that this year will still be "a year of preparations" for the game. He also states that "I'd like to create a new kind of value for the hardware that is the PlayStation 4 for our next announcement."

The Final Fantasy VII Remake will be made for the Playstation 4, and will be split into episodes. There has been no news about ports to other consoles as of this moment.
