Xiaomi Redmi 3 Launched; Device To Sport 5-Inch Display, 4,100 mAh Battery and More

By

Xiaomi, a Chinese tech company identified for manufacturing cheap and affordable smartphones, recently announced the newest addition to its lineup, the Xiaomi Redmi 3. The device features a 5-inch display, 4,100 mAh capacity battery and other decent specs.

According to Ubergizmo, the Xiaomi Redmi 3 which has been all over the wire for a while has been slowly teased and confirmed by the company. The smartphone reportedly sports a 5-inch, 720p HD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset and 2 GB of RAM under its chassis.

The Redmi 3 is packed with 16 GB of onboard storage that can be further expanded via microSD. It has a 13-MP rear-facing camera with phase detection autofocus and a 5-MP front-facing snapper, all powered by its 4,100mAh capacity battery. Seeing its low display resolution and its chipset, this smartphone won't exactly be a powerhouse, meaning the 4,100mAh battery should last for quite some time.

CNET added that just like most Xiaomi handsets, the Redmi 3 will arrive with dual-SIM capabilities. Based on the Xiaomi's previous devices, it is expected that this smartphone will also have support for 4G networks everywhere except the US, so if Americans are thinking of getting one, their handsets will be limited to mostly 3G connectivity only.

Tech2 reported that with the Xiaomi officially launching its Redmi 3 smartphone, it is priced at CNY 699 which is approximately Rs. 7,000. The device is available on Mi.com and Tmall, and will go on sale in China starting tomorrow. TFeaturing a metal body along with a textured rear panel, it will be available in gold, grey and silver color variants.

As for its availability, no information have been announced yet.  Despite this, many fans predict the rest of the details of Xiaomi Redmi 3 to come soon as the device has already been announced.
