Android 6.0 Marshmallow Upgrade for HTC One M8s, One M8 Eye & One M8 GPE

By

HTC is scheduled to roll out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade to One M8 variants in the first quarter of 2016. Which smartphones will follow One M8's footsteps to get the new software as early as January?

Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade being the most exciting build Google had ever crafted has been sought after by the Android population, including the HTC community. As per official Marshmallow list of the Taiwanese brand, One M8s, One M8 Eye and One M8 Google Play Edition (GPE) are now under the development stage wherein the new software is being integrated with the Sense user interface.

After development wraps up, testing will follow to assess the performance of the device with the build before the official roll out comes over the air (OTA).

HTC One M8s

With a preinstalled Android 5.0.1 Lollipop and Sense 6.0 user interface, One M8s is confirmed skipping the Android 5.1 Lollipop version in favor of Marshmallow. The latest Android build will come with the Sense 7.0 UI in the first quarter of 2016. What is uncertain for now, however, is whether or not the device will receive Marshmallow as soon as January.

HTC One M8 Eye

The 2014 smartphone was first scheduled to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade in the fourth quarter of 2015, specifically in December. The upgrade, however, was not pushed to the device. Nevertheless, One M8 Eye will most likely receive the Marshmallow software before the month of January ends with the Sense 7.0 UI.

HTC One M8 Google Play Edition (GPE)

The GPE version of One M8 has been continuously receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop since last year. It was slated to receive the official OTA update of Android 6.0 in October 2015 but was not completed.

One M8 GPE is currently on the testing stage, a step above the development stage. Here, final and actual assessment of the device running with Marshmallow is undertaken by HTC and partner carriers.
