When "The Affair" Season 3 returns, Noah (Dominic West) will be facing serious jail time for the death of Scotty (Colin Donnell). It was finally revealed in last season's finale that Scotty's death was caused by an unfortunate accident and how Noah, Alison (Ruth Wilson) and Helen (Maura Tierney) were involved in it.
Noah's trial ended after he admitted that he was driving the vehicle that hit Scotty and caused his death on the fateful night. However, the truth is Helen was the one driving but Noah chose to keep her involvement a secret according to Christian Post. The big question of fans now is whether Helen, who is the only person who can exonerate her ex-husband, will admit that it was her who hit Scotty in "The Affair" Season 3.
On the night of Scotty's death, Noah and Helen appeared to be on the brink of reconciliation since they were going home together after they had a good talk in a bar reports Breathe Cast. It seemed that Helen has forgiven him for his affair with Alison that ultimately destroyed their family. However, Noah just learned from Alison that the baby girl he considered as his was in fact Cole's daughter. He asked Helen to drive his car as he was upset and therefore not fit to drive in the narrow and dark road.
On their way, Noah reached out to hold Helen's hand and she took her eyes off the road for a split second. That was the moment when the car hit the Scotty. It was also revealed that it was Alison was the one who pushed the drunk Scotty straight into the car's path as self defense when Scotty tried to rape her.
In choosing to take the blame for Scotty's accidental death, Noah for once in his life put somebody else before himself according to Christian Today. His selfishness in the past caused Helen a lot of suffering. Their divorce proceedings left her devoid of any self respect. Protecting Helen might be Noah's way to make up for all the hurt he has caused her.
So many questions are awaiting answers on "The Affair" Season 3. Will Helen eventually admit her involvement in the accident? Will she and Noah rekindle their love? What about Noah's relationship with Alison now that he knows that she kept a very big secret from him? There is no official word yet from Showtime when the next season premiere will be.
