'Phantasy Star Online 2' Update: One of winter’s anime Line-up of Sentai Filmworks; Making its way to West soon

It is always expected that in every winter season, there will be another new series of anime to be watched out. One of these picked anime is 'Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation' and it seems making its way to the West.

In an official statement, anime group Sentai Filmworks has secured the rights to bring an adaptation of Sega's elusive MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) to western shores following its Japanese debut this month. They will also release the anime on traditional and digital media platform and also, there is even a possibility for home video release, reports Bit Bag.

Speaking of home video, it will tell the story of Itsuki Tachibana, a 'Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation' player and his adventures both inside and outside of the game. The series will be directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi.

Also, scripting and composition will be led by Mitsutaka Hirota. Minoho Takasu will be providing character designs. Furthermore, the anime will be produced by TELECOM ANIMATION FILM, who also produced Ramen Fighter Miki, Lupin III - The Italian Adventure and Sengoku Basara: Judge End.

Sega released a free-to-play Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation' role playing game in Japan back in 2012 with a play station Vita version arriving in 2013. Also, it would have an Android and iOS release in April and May 2014, respectively, as cited by Fandom.

Furthermore, there's a chance that the anime will possibly be exposed to the rest of the world based on what was the performance of the first season. So, if it was a well-done type of release before, fans are probably anticipating for more interesting type of another season.

According to Anime News Network, there are so many things to watch out for. Also, the series is expected to be launched on digital outlets soon and will be followed with a home video release once the anime's run is over.

'Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation' is currently solicited for a 2016 release window. The anime will first be released through digital outlets, with a physical release soon to follow. (IBT). The anime's first episode will air by January 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
