After the massive success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the makers of the franchise will bring the fans back to a time before the fourth episode with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which director Gareth Edwards said will be a heist movie.

According to iDigital Times, the spin off movie will tell a story about a band of rebels who will set out on a mission to steal the plans of the Death Star. The events in this movie will happen before Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope. It will not have any familiar characters, except for the Sith Lord.

It will bring the story to a whole new direction. According to Edwards, it will be a heist movie, which is very unique for a Star Wars movie. It will be released in winter 2016.

Meanwhile, Screen Rant reported that one of the film's stars, Ben Mendelsohn from Bloodline, discussed some of the prospects of the first movie in a stand alone Star Wars anthology. He stars as one of the villains of the movie named Moff.

He said, "I wouldn't want to spoil anything for anyone on those levels... But you can expect something pretty special, I'd like to think. I was in the audience for number seven and it was delightful. It exceeded my wildest hopes and dreams for what it might be. It's a beautiful film. So we've got something to reach for and that's a good thing."

Movie Pilot wrote that the movie will have an Ocean's Eleven vibe to it. Some of the leading actors who will star in the film are Felicity Jones, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, and Riz Ahmed.

Director Gareth Edwards is notable for his work in the 2014 reboot of Godzilla. The screenplay is written by Gary Whitta, who wrote the Book of Eli. Chris Weitz will also co-write the film. He is known for his work with The Golden Compass.
