'X-Men: Apocalypse' Update: New Trailer Offends Hindu; Changes in Magneto's Character, Reason for Oscar Isaac's Addition Revealed

By

The new trailer of "X-Men: Apocalypse" once again made news as it offended some Hindus in the US. Fans of the franchise grow excited as Magneto becomes more powerful than he could ever be; and as to why Oscar Isaac got the role of Apocalypse is finally answered.

Time reported that the X-Men: Apocalypse released earlier this month has ruffled the feathers of the US Hindu community, objecting to how the movie used Krishna as reference. Universal Society of Hinduism president Rajan Zed said, "Lord Krishna was meant to be worshiped in temples or home shrines and not for pushing movies for the mercantile greed of filmmakers."

In the new trailer, Apocalypse, played by Oscar Isaac, says the line, "I have been called many things over many lifetimes - Ra, Krishna, Yahweh." This prompted Zed to request director Bryan Singer to remove scenes that refer to Krishna, to avoid confusion among Hindus and non-Hindus.

Meanwhile, another notable thing about the new addition in the X-Men franchise is how Magneto will become more powerful than he has ever been, according to a report by Cinema Blend. Singer said, "One of Apocalypse's many powers is he can imbue other mutants with greater ones. Magneto is demonstrating a small taste of what he can do now. Magneto is already enormously powerful... Now Apocalypse gives him powers far beyond what we've seen before."

Movie News Guide wrote about why Oscar Isaac got the role of the god-like mutant Apocalypse. According to the movie's writer Simon Kinberg, they needed an actor that could go against the calibers of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. Kinberg said Isaac had what it needs to play the role, and that he is an incredible dramatic actor.

The much awaited Marvel film with the favorite mutants such as Professor X, Mystique, Magneto, and the rest will be seen as X-Men Apocalypse will hit theaters on May 2016.
