New US Law states money for wrongfully accused to be tax free

By

In the past, wrongful convictions have become quite an epidemic within the justice system under many circumstances that may or may not have been acceptable to some. As the said nearly unnacceptable conclusion of cases have bestowed raw unnecessary time among the accused, a new law looks to give them pardon on one of the most prioritized payments that every working citizen has to comply.

As reported by WPR, there is a connotation that tax is a basic necessity for all, even those who have been incarcerated by the law. However, some think of such rule to be somewhat inapplicable for those that were not offered complete justice or even mistakenly bestowed punishment on.

According to Forbes, the United States has held an average statistical rate of fourteen years in prison spent for the wrongfully accused due to DNA based evidence, and because of such instances, the Wrongful Convictions Tax Relief Act was discussed. In the said law, the wrongfully accused will be cordially exempted of the civil damages, restitution or other monetary awards that he or she will receive in compensation for a wrongful incarceration.

As delivered by Channel 3000, embedded within the new law would be the declaration that the particular wrongfully accused will no longer need to prove that they have been physical injured any way while in prison in order to be exempted of the tax. Moreover, there will also be no need to divulge the allocation of the money, nor suggest that they received millions after getting stabbed or beaten while being inside the jurisdiction of those that held the period of incarceration.

Congressman Larson was quoted further on their concern for those unrightfully laid to the arm of the law saying, "Though we can never give the wrongfully convicted the time back that they've had taken from them, they certainly shouldn't have to pay Uncle Sam a share of any compensation they're awarded. This bill will make sure they don't have to suffer that insult on top of their injury."

As tax is definitively one mark on any working citizen's list that cannot be crossed out, the government surely has taken out a thorn on the side of those who have received what others may call "the blind side" of justice. Many believe it is about time that the Congress has attended to this issue after such a long discussion and journey towards its approval.
