28 Months Later Update: Screenwriter breaks silence about the film progress; Director uncovered insights regarding the script

Alex Garland, the creator of Rage Virus film series 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, detailed the progress of the upcoming sequel to the horror film. Moreover, director Danny Boyle, stated his insights about the next film's development.

28 Months Later is the anticipated third film to complete the trilogy that started in 2002 by scriptwriter, Alex Garland. After years of hiatus in the second film's sequel, the English writer revealed the confirmation of the third movie after serious talks with the producer and director.

According to IGN, in the interview with Garland, he said that "We've just started talking about it seriously. We've got an idea. Danny and Andrew and I have been having quite serious conversations about it so it is a possibility". After verifying that talks will be moving, Garland said that he will be more likely to be an executive producer than to be the scribe of the script.

Also, as reported by Cinema Blend, Garland revealed that the franchise will go on to and extend its arms in attempting a fourth film. He said that the sequel is picked to be months rather than years to give them one more place and for the fans to see another Rage Virus-themed zombie film.

Regarding the talks, director Danny Boyle, who helmed the first film, uncovered his nearing involvement with the third. As written by Enstars, the Oscar winner director said that he might be interested if the movie will incorporate a different approach in direction, hinting that he want to surprise the audience with this. He told IGN that ""I love doing stuff that is 'How are you going to direct that? How would you do that?' It's like this project - it's like the Steve Jobs."

Boyle also added that he values the perception of the viewers regarding the direction of them film, citing them as the "righteous judges."In addition to this, the director said that he read Alex Garland's script for the future film and loved the idea of it. Lastly, Boyle believed that the third film should be a diversion from the hyped predictable zombie series and films.

The 28 Months Later is the planned sequel to the 2007 film to complete the trilogy. The film's screenwriter Alex Garland said that they are working with the producer and director to confirm the development of the film while director Danny Boyle stated his different method approach to the upcoming film after reading the script scribed by the former.
