Legal actions are temporarily suspended as Chaz Dean, creator of WEN hair care products, settles a lawsuit filed by over 200 angry women customers. Plaintiffs claimed that Dean's WEN hair care line caused serious balding, irritation, and hair breakage.

Hair stylist Chaz Dean wants to quickly settle a class action lawsuit filed by more than 200 women customers of his WEN hair care products. Customers complained that they experienced serious balding and irritation after using Dean's WEN hair care line.

As per a report by RadarOnline.com, both parties "have agreed upon a framework for the exchange of evaluation-critical information and to otherwise mediate the claims of each Plaintiff as expeditiously and efficiently as possible." For now, legal measures are temporarily on hold as both sides try to settle the issue.

The lawsuit against WEN was filed by Dallas attorney Amy Davis in the California Federal Court. Many of the complainants were parents of children who suffered hair problems after using the products. In the complaint, photos of women who suffered from major hair loss and balding were included. Yet, Dean refutes that his products are not defective.

However, The Daily Beast reported numerous reviews by angry customers saying that WEN hair care products caused severe hair issues. Amy Friedman, a nurse practitioner, claimed that she began losing a significant amount of hair after using the WEN Sweet Almond Mint basic kit in January. Even though she discontinued using the product for three weeks, her hair reportedly continued to fall out until only "one quarter to one third" of her hair remained.

WEN hair care products claim to contain natural and organic ingredients as per the company's website. According to Fox & Jane salon hair stylist Kelsey Smart, WEN products are good for coarse and frizzy hair. On the other hand, it could build up and cause hair breakage to women with fine hair. Davis said, "It's like using lotion to wash your hair, so instead of removing the product, when you rinse it off, it just becomes impacted in your hair follicle."

WTHI-TV stated that marketing company Guthy-Renker is also under complain for releasing misleading commercials about WEN hair products. The company is also being accused of deliberately removing negative online reviews or comments on WEN's official Facebook page.

It is yet to be known which specific ingredient in WEN hair products causes hair loss. Many factors like genetics, hormonal changes, and use of hair equipment need to be considered, says the American Dermatological Society. The numerous, different formulas used to make the WEN products also need to be taken into account.

The WEN hair care line is endorsed in various late-night infomercials by popular celebrities Brooke Shields, Alyssa Milano, and others. It reportedly sold over $100 million on the second year after its release.
