Presidential Polls: How Important is The Last Presidential Debate as Race Gets Tighter Between President Obama and Mitt Romney? (View Schedule)

By

The last and final presidential debate before the November 6 Presidential Elections will take place on Monday; the real question that should be asked after the debates is not who won, but whether it will affect the polls which continue show an extremely close race between the two candidates.

It can be said that the score is even between President Obama and Governor Romney after the previous two debates; Romney unanimously won the first and Obama was declared winner of the second.

Never the less, the results of debate did not reflect on the Obama campaign as would have expected. Although, a poll by Reuters in conjunction with IPSOS showed that 48 percent of the viewers' thought Obama won the second debate, while 33 percent said Romney won, and other polls by CNN and CBS showed similar results, these did not seem to impact the elections polls.

As of Saturday, a number of polls such as Reuters/Ipsos, IBD/TIPP, PPP and Rasmussen show that President Obama has gained a slight lead over Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney; but the Gallup Poll continues to show Romney with a seven point lead over Obama.

The latest polls for Monday can be found here.

According to the Huffington Post, "The most recent national tracking surveys... continue to produce a mixed result in terms of the nominal leader, although all but one show a relatively close race between Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney."

According to Polymic.com, President Barrack Obama has a current lead over former governor Mitt Romney in the nine swing states, which are likely to decide the presidential elections of 2012.

The last and final presidential debate before the 2012 Presidential Elections on November 6 will take place on October 22 in one of the key swing states - Florida.
