Judge Judy Declared Highest Paid TV Celebrity on Her 70th Birthday

The feisty Judge Judith Sheindlin is the highest paid TV celebrity according to a "TV Guide Survey," as reported by the New York Daily. According to the survey, Judge Judy, as she is popularly known as, makes $123,000 per day, which amounts up to $45 million for working 52 days per year.

Judge Judy, notoriously known for her "Does my forehead read stupid" attitude and acerbic zingers premiered on CBS' Family Court tv in 1996 and continues to reign in the big bucks till today.

According to the report, CBS' David Letterman comes in second as the highest-paid TV celebrity at $28 million, after him comes NBC's Jay Leno at $25 million and then "The Today Show" Matt Lauer at $21.5 million, and Kelly Ripa and Judge Joe Brown at $20 million.

Judge Judy graduated with her Law Degree from New York University Law School. She was appointed to the New York family court in 1982 and retired in 1996, after which she was offered her own show. She currently lives in Brooklyn, New York and films for her show in San Francisco twice a month. She has five children and 12 grandchildren.

On being the highest-paid celebrity, the recently turned 70-year-old star tells NY Daily News, "When you do this long enough, you learn what's really important in your life....My blessing...is that I have a great family and am enjoying good health."
