Colorado Shooter James Egan Holmes: Sent His Plans to University Before Dark Knight Massacre

According to recent reports, 24-year-old James Egan Holmes sent a journal to the University of Colorado Anschutz medical campus in Aurora psychiatrist cautioning on the upcoming fatal event he planned. Unfortunately, the journal remained in an unchecked mail-box and was discovered only until it was too late.

Fox News reports that the journal contained "full of details about how he was going to kill people."

As of Wednesday, there are no developments as to the motives of the shootings, however, the police revealed that Holmes had purchased the assault rifles with which he carried on the killing the day he failed an exam hinting to an "underlying mental illness that was triggered by the stress of failure," according to reports by ABC News. But Holmes had starting accumulating ammunition and other arms a month prior to the killing.

On Monday, 24-year-old James Egan Holmes makes his first appearance in court after shooting down over 70 people at an Aurora movie theatre during a midnight screening of the much awaited Dark Knight Rises, killing 12 and injuring 59. Holmes was arrested Friday morning and kept in solitary confinement at an Arapahoe County detention facility.

Holmes will likely be charged with first-degree murder and possibly aggravated assault and weapon violations. He will be formally charged later this week.

Eighteenth Judicial District Attorney Carol Chambers told News Day that she is considering pursuing the death penalty, but only after consulting with the victims and their families.

Holmes showed up to court looking rather absent minded with bright orange hair. He did not speak and Colorado police Chief Daniel Oates told the media that he was not cooperating with authorities. Oates also stated that the suspect's parents were also "not talking to us (the police) right now...Maybe that will change, but right now they are not talking to us," according to Good Morning America on ABC.

At mid-night on Friday, Holmes entered a packed Aurora movie house, where Dark Knight fans gathered to watch the screening of the highly anticipated movie. Holmes dressed as one of the movie villains Bane, sporadically shot at people in the packed room.

Colorado police arrested him later Friday morning and immediately took him into custody. Police found his apartment to be inundated with ammunition in addition to being booby trapped. Police required a bomb-squad to disarm his apartment, residents were evacuated.

Aurora residents continue to mourn those lost in the fatal incident. President Barrack Obama made a trip to Aurora Sunday to visit the victims and their families.
