The Charleston Police Department is asking for the public's help in solving a missing person case that involves a 19-year-old who was last seen by his friends at 2 a.m. on Halloween.
Owen Tillman Kenney was last seen by his friends near King Street and Burns Lane in Charleston, police said. He was wearing a Boston Celtics jersey as part of a Halloween costume. He is described as being 6'1, 155 pounds with a buzz cut.
Kenney is a student at the College of Charleston, the Post and Courier reported. He has tattoos on his right forearm, left shoulder, left shin and knee, and may have worn a black zip-up hoodie.
WCBD-2 reported that Kenney attended a Halloween event that began Thursday night but extended into the early morning hours of Friday. The station reported that Kenney was seen walking in the direction of his home, which is located on Bull Street.
"He was minutes from his house but never made it home," Kenney's family stated in a Facebook post that asked for the public's help in finding him.
Kenney is originally from Tinton Falls, New Jersey, but had transferred to the College of Charleston in January, The Post and Courier reported.
"It's honestly really eerie on campus right now, I would say we're definitely feeling the distance here," said College of Charleston student Holland Cartmill told WCBD-2.
According to the station, ring cameras in the area of Kenney's home did not pick him up arriving in the area.
"I was totally shocked. I was walking my dog yesterday, and I saw some girls putting up this sign behind me. And when I spoke with them, they didn't even know the student. They had just heard and were concerned. So I think everybody in the community is really concerned that this is such an unusual thing to happen," said Julie, a Bull Street resident, told WCBD-2.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact the Charleston Police Department at 843-720-2422 or submit an anonymous tip online.
