Tesla CEO Elon Musk took aim at President Donald Trump's claims about the files on Jeffrey Epstein, poking holes in the president's argument that the situation was a "hoax" by Democrats.
Musk took to X Wednesday to point out how people connected to Epstein were in jail for what Trump claimed was a "hoax" and a "scam."
"Wow, amazing that Epstein 'killed himself' and Ghislaine [Maxwell] is in federal prison for a hoax," the SpaceX CEO wrote sarcastically.

Maxwell, an associate of Epstein, was convicted of sex trafficking in 2021. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but is currently appealing her conviction.
"He should just release the files and point out which part is the hoax," Musk wrote in another tweet.

Trump's former ally's comments come after the president railed against MAGA influencers who turned on his administration after the Department of Justice and FBI released a memo July 6 declaring that Epstein killed himself, had "no client list" and that they found no evidence of blackmail, contradicting popular conspiracy theories.
The report has led to a slew of backlash across both sides of the aisle, with several otherwise pro-Trump figures calling for U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi's resignation or the full release of the Epstein files.
"Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein HOAX, and my PAST supporters have bought into this 'bulls***,' hook, line and sinker. They haven't learned their lesson, and they probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Wednesday.
The president previously urged his supporters to not "waste time and energy on Jeffrey Epstein," which he claimed was "something that nobody cares about," in a post defending Bondi against the online backlash.
Musk has continued to call for the release of the Epstein files and more evidence in the case. He reshared a tweet by his AI chatbot Grok which listed names of public figures who reportedly traveled to Epstein's private island, according to flight logs, including former President Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew of the British royal family and lawyer Alan Dershowitz.

Grok noted that although Trump never visited the private island, he was reportedly accounted for seven times on flights on Epstein's private plane. "Bullseye," Musk captioned the tweet.
Various lawmakers from both political parties have continued to push for the release of the files in response to the backlash over the report. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has called for special counsel to review the Epstein files, while Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee demanded that Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel testify under oath.
