A Walt Disney Parks and Resorts water slide produced "exhilarating speeds" that sent a man airborne and led to injuries, according to a recently filed lawsuit.
Eugene Strickland is suing for $50,000 in damages after he says he sustained injuries on the Downhill Double Dipper waterslide at Beach Water Park in Florida, Fox 35 Orlando reported.
Strickland was injured in July 2021, and, according to the lawsuit, at that time he weighed about 334 pounds, 34 pounds over the ride's weight limit, Fox 35 Orlando reported.
"It's All Downhill from Here!" the park website announces in describing the ride. "Disappear into a black hole and plummet 50 feet downhill at exhilarating speeds. Hurtle through darkness, then emerge just in time for the big splashdown."
The ride has slides side-by-side and allows two people to race.
In the lawsuit, Strickland states that he became airborne because of the slide's high speeds and design. Strickland went down the slide in a tube and states in the lawsuit that the tube dislodged beneath him, leading him to land hard on the slide's surface, Fox 35 Orlando reported.
PEOPLE reported that Strickland asserts in the lawsuit that he sustained permanent injuries. The outlet reported that the lawsuit isn't clear as to whether Strickland was aware of the weight requirement when he down the ride.
