A Michigan man was arrested after allegedly shooting his coworker in a hospital parking garage after the victim's family revealed he grew angry over not being invited to the victim's father's private funeral service, police said.

In January, 21-year-old Robert Paljusevic and the 25-year-old victim, once friends, had a falling out after the victim did not invite Paljusevic to a family-only funeral for his father, according to Click On Detroit.

Paljusevic was said to have attended the public viewing and allegedly made an offensive remark to the deceased before later confronting the victim over FaceTime and urinating on funeral brochures.

"Your f***ing son would not invite me to meet you," Paljusevic allegedly said, according to the outlet. "If I do see you outside in public, don't be surprised if something happens."

On the morning of March 20, the victim was driving into the parking garage at Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital in Troy when Paljusevic allegedly fired at least five shots, hitting the victim's car and striking him twice in the arm.

Hospital staff initially feared an active shooter situation, prompting a lockdown, but police quickly determined it was a targeted attack. Officers arrested Paljusevic at his Macomb County home two hours later.

Family members of the victim described Paljusevic to police as "highly possessive" of his coworker and short-tempered.

Paljusevic was arraigned over the weekend on charges of assault with intent to murder, felony firearm possession, and carrying a concealed weapon. He pleaded not guilty and remains held in the Oakland County Jail without bond. His next court hearing is scheduled for March 31.
