A Michigan man on probation for kidnapping allegedly had a missing teen girl staying with him for months.

Devan Eric Cook, 30, is accused of repeatedly assaulting a girl who was 14 when she went missing in October 2024. The girl is now 15, clickondetroit.com reported.

FBI agents looking for the girl had interviewed Cook over the phone as part of their investigation. In that call, Cook mentioned to them that he was out on parole for unlawful imprisonment, the website reported.

Cook pled guilty to unlawful imprisonment in February 2023 for an incident that occurred in July 2022, according to court records. He was paroled for the offense in January of 2024.

In conducting their investigation, the FBI found several videos of the girl engaged in sexual acts. Those videos led to child pornography charges being filed against Cook, Fox 2 Detroit reported.

The girl met Cook after running away from home. When police interviewed the girl, she gave police a different name for him and police determined later that the name was an alias Cook was using, Fox 2 Detroit reported.

The day the FBI spoke with Cook, he allegedly texted her, "Delete everything," Fox 2 Detroit reported.
