A North Carolina man facing a variety of charges, including kidnapping, after he posed as a member of ICE and harassed Hispanic men has expressed remorse for his actions, according to his defense attorney.

Sean Michael-Emmrich Johnson is charged with felony kidnapping, impersonating a law enforcement officer, larceny, and third-degree assault and battery following revelations from a viral video, ABC-4 News reported.

In the video, Johnson is seen talking to a man in a vehicle. Johnson said, "You got caught! Where you from? Mexico?' The man does not respond and Johnson continues, "You from Mexico? You going back!"

In court, Johnson's family said that he has mental health issues. "He has tried to get help," one of Johnson's family members said in court. "But he needs to continue with that therapy."

Johnson's defense attorney noted that he had turned himself and was regretful for his actions, ABC-4 reported.

The station reported that the judge, while sympathetic to Johnsons issues also acknowledged the potential danger to people in the community. The judge granted a bond of $20,000 kidnapping, a $10,000, bond for impersonating a law enforcement officer, a nearly $2,000 bond for assault and $500 bond for petty larceny.
