Tennessee Shooting Near College Campus Leaves 2 Dead, 5 Injured

A shooting near LeMoyne-Owen College in South Memphis on Wednesday left two people dead and five others injured, prompting a major police response as authorities searched for suspects.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire at 3:35 p.m. in the 900 block of College Park in the Soulsville neighborhood, where they found multiple victims, according to WREG.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while another died at a hospital, police said. Three others remain in critical condition.

Authorities also confirmed that all the victims were adults.

Memphis Police Chief C.J. Davis arrived at the scene as officers secured the area. Investigators have not released information about any suspects.

Although the shooting occurred near LeMoyne-Owen College, school officials said in an email that it did not take place on campus and did not involve students, faculty, or staff. The college remained open, and no lockdowns were issued.
