A missing Ohio mom who vanished while hiking in late September was found dead in a hammock in Alabama last week.
Vendula "Wendy" Rose, 41, traveled for a hiking and camping trip in late September. Her family contacted law enforcement when she did not return home on Oct. 2.
Her vehicle was found at the Pinhoti trail head near Cheaha State Park. Inside Rose's Honda Accord, police found notes they decided were "abnormal unless she was having a mental health crisis" and a box of ammunition missing several bullets, MLive reported.
Before leaving, Rose also left personal belongings in a safe deposit box at her bank and her work keys with her employer.
Her body was then discovered by hunters on Cheaha Mountain on Nov. 30, about five miles where her car was found. Rose's body was in a hammock in a covered campsite.
"Although this is not the outcome the family neither wanted nor expected, it is our hearts desire that this will allow the family to have closure. Please join me in prayer for the family as they mourn the loss of their beloved mother, wife, daughter and sister," Cleburne County Coroner Adam Downs told MLive.
