Yonkers police arrested three people, including a woman wearing a Santa hat, on Nov. 23 for allegedly stealing Amazon packages from an apartment building lobby.
Officers responded around 9 a.m. after reports of suspicious individuals, WABC reported. Upon arrival, they found Adriana Torres, 41; Manuel Ortiz, 42; and Vladymir Campos, 48, hiding near a vehicle with several opened packages.
The suspects were accused of taking packages from the lobby of an apartment building. They face charges of petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.
"We do not think Santa would appreciate Ms. Torres wearing his hat while attempting to steal Christmas!" Yonkers police wrote on Instagram. "It doesn't pay to be a Grinch!"
Police are urging residents to follow safety tips to prevent package theft during the holiday season, including using delivery lockers, requesting signatures and monitoring deliveries with security cameras.
