A Capitol rioter has pleaded guilty to causing a fatal car crash that took a woman's life and injured her husband just one year after her involvement in the 2021 insurrection.

Emily Hernandez, 25, made headlines for her role in the January 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol riot, where she was seen holding a sign inside the Speaker's office.

Almost exactly one year later, on January 5, 2022, Hernandez drove the wrong way on a highway in Franklin County, Missouri. She then proceeded to crash into another vehicle, causing the death of Vickie Wilson and severely injuring her husband.

Hernandez was later charged with felony DWI resulting in death and serious injury, First Alert 4 reported.

In a Franklin County courtroom, on Election Day, Hernandez pleaded guilty to the charges stemming from the crash, admitting to driving with a blood alcohol level more than double the legal limit.

Hernandez, who previously pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges related to the Capitol riot, now faces 5 to 22 years in prison.

After pleading guilty on November 5, she is scheduled to be officially sentenced on January 29, 2025.
